Andrea Cooper Wrote A Profile of a MacArthur Grant Genius
For the Oxford American, Andrea Cooper spent time in the lab with Dr. Nabarun Dasgupta. Dasgupta, the winner of the 2025 MacArthur fellowship, is a harm-reduction advocate.
Cooper wrote, “He’s not certain yet how he will spend the MacArthur money. Street-drug analysis was previously the domain of law enforcement, forensics and medical examiners who didn’t necessarily share their findings. Analysis for public health is in its infancy. Dasgupta would like to expand his work internationally and develop a hemispheric view of the drug supply, from Canada to Chile, in real time. “
